About

Global Empowerment Network, Inc was registered in September 2024 in the state of Connecticut, USA, as a non-profit organization. The organization was established in response to the urgent need for empowering marginalized communities, particularly women and girls around the world. The idea to establish this organization stems from years of experience and witnessing social and educational inequalities in various societies.

Achievements

Through the Women Empowerment Program, we have provided free online educational services in areas such as psychology, management, leadership, personal and professional growth, English language, and technology for women and girls in Afghanistan. This program is part of the organization’s educational initiatives, designed specifically to support marginalized groups.

Supported over 3,000 girls and women through educational and counseling programs.

Established a global network of supporters and volunteers who have helped expand the organization’s goals.

Our Team

At Global Empowerment Network, Inc, our team consists of experienced, skilled, and committed individuals who volunteer to serve the mission of the organization. Our team members are particularly selected from within Afghanistan, representing educated and dedicated individuals who contribute to various projects, including educational, legal, and charitable initiatives. Key roles in the United States are carried out by the founding members and board of directors, as outlined below.

All of our team members volunteer selflessly, driven by a commitment to the humanitarian and educational missions of the organization. Our team is dedicated to providing equal educational opportunities for Afghan women and girls, as well as other marginalized groups, globally.

Qari Abeera Ziayi
Founder, Executive Director, and President

Abeera holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and Religions, as well as two Master’s degrees in International Law and LLM from George Mason University in the United States. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology.

With 18 years of experience in the human rights field, her focus has been on helping marginalized individuals, especially street children and women. She has served as a defense lawyer, university professor, and legal advisor in Afghanistan for 8 years. Additionally, she has been an advocate for women’s rights and human rights, working towards legal and educational reforms to uplift underprivileged communities.

Akmal Durani
Vice President

Akmal Drani is the Vice President of the organization and one of its founding members. He holds advanced degrees in engineering from U.S. universities and has extensive experience in project management, team leadership, and educational program development.

He plays a key role in the organization’s strategies and programs. As Vice President, he has made significant contributions to the success of the non-profit, particularly in the development of empowerment programs for marginalized women.

Sohrab Halimi
Board Member

Sohrab holds advanced degrees in engineering from U.S. universities and has a long history of consulting and managing projects, especially in legal and educational fields.

He plays a vital role in the organization’s decision-making processes. As a key member of the organizational and executive structure, he helps advance the organization’s goals and vision.
